Sealwarden
Alerts when your Firefox extensions gain permissions
In developmentThe product exists and is being built. It is not open yet, and no date has been announced.
What this product does not do
- Pass judgment on an extension. It describes what changed, and you decide.
- Read the pages you visit. It asks for access to no website.
- Install from the Chrome Web Store. It is not published there.
- Record code that an extension loads remotely. That code escapes its record.

What you will be able to check
- It collects no data.
- Firefox says so in the extension’s install prompt.
- Four permissions, no website access.
- Type about:addons in the address bar, open Sealwarden, then its permissions.
- Nothing leaves your browser.
- In about:debugging, inspect Sealwarden and keep the Network tab open: the only requests download the public alert feed, and none sends anything about your extensions.
The product on screen

The extension window. The alerts and extensions shown are demonstration data.
The alert names the previous and the new publisher, then the update that made the change.
The home page of the Sealwarden website, on a computer.
The same page on a phone.
An update can change what an extension is allowed to do without asking you. Sealwarden keeps a record of each of your extensions and tells you when something changes. The comparison runs inside your browser, and nothing leaves it.
What the extension watches
- The permissions and website access each extension asks for.
- Its name, its install type and the address it updates from.
- Every alert names the extension, shows the before and after, and says which update brought the change.
Its site, sealwarden.mohmak.com, will open when it is published.
Revisions
- Screenshots of the product added to the page.
